Hello, I'm Andrea

And I'm a student, but I'm also a good Web Designer & Developer. I live in Verona since 2005. As you can see, from Wikipedia, «the city has been awarded world heritage site status by UNESCO». Even if the citizens are not the best, I can guarantee that the city worth to be visited, not only for Romeo & Juliet.

I attempt to the “Computer Science and Multimedia” courses at University of Verona, where I learned about programming and we've done al lot of math (cause it's cheapest to teach: just a blackboard and a professor). All my knowledge about Web design come from blogs, guides, books and 5 years of experience.

Anyway eight years ago, from students, was born the University of Verona's Web-Radio: FuoriAulaNetwork. There I mainly work as a webmaster with a friend.

I've a Canon Powershot SX200IS and a tripod, with those stuff I have a lot of fun! Take a look to my shots on my Flickr profile.

Me and my girlfriend Elisa are planning to go living in England for a while, just for experience. Plus, she's a Costume Designer and here in Italy it's hard to find a job for her.

These are the fundamentals of Web Desing, but sometime this topics are underestimated by some designers. I always validate the code attend to the W3C standards. And also if it's not really diffuse, I know how to take advantage from HTML5 (like in my website).

Contents are everything, but become nothing wrapped in the wrong tags (especially for Search Engines Optimization, see below).

PHP, Javascript and Databases

PHP manage content by the server (like file/photo editing, database managing, etc.), Javascript work directly on the client browser (like click events, transation, etc.). I know, also, how to combine those tecnologies with the AJAX method, that make “super-easy to use” Web Apps.

jQuery it's a javascript library that helps me a lot, especially for animation and AJAX. I also know how to project, build and manage Databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Graphic Designing

Make websites and web apps it's not only write a bunch of code. Make fancy interfaces is a good part of work: choose colors & typefaces, make inviting buttons, balancing the whitespace, make logos etc.

I'm not a really great Illustrator, but I know where find my stuff. Anyway I've got good knowledges about Adobe™ Photoshop®.

SEO managing

When you have your web-site on-line, don't relax! The work is not finished! In fact you should to publish it to the Search Engines!

Anyway you have to publish something well formatted for the Search Engine's crowlers that visit and intex your website. So it's better start to worry about this during the project.

My Experience

@ FuoriAulaNetwork

In 2008 I'm entered in this university laboratory. At the begin was only a way for make univeristy's credits with fun (and FAN). After a while it became a kind of job! Anyway I mainly manage the website that run on Drupal 5.x, but I'd also leaded (and created) some radio formats. I work nearly for free, cause get paid from italian's university it's really difficult. Principally because Italian's Governance cuts on Instruction & Research.

Since a couple of month ago I became part of the Promotion Department: I'm learning how to promote a web-radio (without founds). About this, we are trying to raising founds, so if you are interested, contact us at our e-mail.

In conclusion, I think I acquired a lot of skills here in comparison to my regular courses.
